The seminar report – published in Malaria Journal and co-authored by MCHIP staff – recaps the November 2014 meeting that was a global Call to Action for the scale-up of intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy (IPTp). The Call to Action aimed to heighten awareness of the need to increase the protection of pregnant women against malaria and called on stakeholders to reinforce national IPTp policy adoption and implement the 2012 WHO guidelines.

The seminar reviewed the status of IPTp coverage in sub-Saharan Africa, factors affecting antenatal care delivery of IPTp, cost effectiveness of IPTp, and ways to strengthen health systems and the antenatal care platform to increase the uptake of IPTp.
