To catalyze and invigorate global awareness and action toward reducing maternal anemia, this brief identifies feasible, scalable, and evidence-based maternal anemia control interventions, and the policy actions that will facilitate their quality implementation. With an eye toward policymakers, donor and international organizations, national governments and NGOs, this brief emphasizes the need for the integration of not only iron folic acid (IFA) supplementation, but also malaria, hookworm, and family planning interventions. It presents six concise priorities for policymakers: political commitment, program integration, supply management, enhanced community roles, increased demand, and strong systems for program monitoring and evaluation.
